Care
of your new plant installation or lawn: |
| |
While we do everything
possible to ensure the quality of our nursery stock and seed
is excellent at the time of planting, it is extremely
important that new plantings are adequately watered during
the first initial month and during periods of little or no
rainfall. To help guarantee the success of your new plants,
please take the time to help meet these extra watering needs
during the first couple of years. |
|
Mulching: |
| |
Maintain a good layer
of 2-3 inches organic mulch on landscape beds. This will
help discourage weeds, retain moisture and keep a clean,
finished look to the planting beds. Avoid too much
mulch (over 3") as you may unintentionally do more harm
than good. |
|
Fertilizers, Insecticides,
Herbicides & Fungicides: |
| |
FOLLOW THE LABEL! How
much, how often and when each of these products are used
is carefully spelled out by the manufacturer. All can be
quite beneficial if used properly, but if used
incorrectly can be very harmful to the plants or even
ourselves. |
|
General Lawn Care: |
| |
Maintain a
slightly higher grass blade as this means more surface area
and shade for roots, and try not to cut more than one third
of the blade at a time. Water deeply rather than with light
and frequent sprinklings. Fertilize and aerate on a regular
basis for a strong lawn. Fertilization replaces nutrients
lost by the lawn and aeration allows for increased
penetration of water, air and nutrients. A thick turf grass
will choke out weeds, but apply broad leaf control as
necessary. Klamfoth, Inc. can provide all these services. If
